So we are three weeks into my 5 year old (6 in November) daughters’ kindergarten year. She says she “hates it” but I also feel like some of that is just dramatic/attention seeking. She’s happy to see me when I pick her up and is happy to high five her teacher when she goes. She seems to be making friends. However, she doesn’t like to talk about her day - I try to ask her what her favorite thing was, something she liked, something she didn’t like, what did you do that was fun and her responses are typically “nothing” or “the same as always”...she’s been in daycare since infancy so doing “school stuff” isn’t necessarily new (obviously school has more structure and it’s more work but I know she gets excited when she learns something new). I guess I’m just looking for advice on how to get her excited for school - that it’s fun to learn and it’s not a chore... although I can understand why she feels that way. Maybe it’s too early in the school year to be concerned?? Does anybody have any tricks to get your kids to open up?She also has ZERO interest in going through the breakfast/lunch line and just prefers to take her lunch and I’m curious if this is something I should just make her do so she can get over it or if I should even care? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2MTsOv6
