I am getting 8.75 hours of sleep tonight because I finally turned off the tv.


I sleep with a lot of noise. I have to; without it my thoughts race too much and as I am drifting off to sleep, I am yanked out of my dozing by remembering something I forgot to do or something I feel bad about so I am instantly awake. <---- holy crap that's a long sentence. I'll have my fan on and then something like Perry Mason playing quietly on TV. It used to take me hours to fall asleep in total silence because of the way my mind races. With the tv on, I dont think about my issues, I'm listening to the show, and so I fall asleep quickly.This is the reason it never occurred to me in five freakin years of parenting to turn the damn thing off so the kids will sleep. I cosleep. Last night, LO stayed up until 1030, 11 o'clock, which is about when I normally am going to sleep. Needless to say i was a little annoyed that I didn't get my hour of me time. Then, LO was awake again at 4am and was awake for 45 minutes, fussing over her blanket while I slurred pleas at her to go back to sleep.Tonight, I put on Harry Potter and we watched it for an hour. And then Frasier for 15 minutes and when she still wasnt asleep, I turned the damn thing off. In 10 minutes she was out cold and I'm getting some sleep tonight.
