So, in short, how are you navigating religion and your kid and any questions that come up?We live in a fairly religious area. It is assumed you are god fearing Christian by default. In general, it doesn't really come up often and we mostly follow the "you do you" policy when it comes to other peoples views. However, our oldest is in a preschool (not state funded) where they are making her thank God before lunch. It started as a little song "thank you Mom and Dad for feeding me" and, I guess, has transitioned to "thank you God for feeding me." Obviously this goes against our beliefs, but we knew we would have to cross this bridge sooner or later. We were assuming it would be much later. Its bringing up a lot of hard to answer questions. What is god? What is a soul? How do you explain these concepts to a child? We do the "some people believe xyz" types of explanations, but she is obviously still curious as to WHY people would believe and we just don't have answers. Looking for anyone who has navigated or is currently navigating these waters. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/30X78Sa
