A few weeks ago my son (7) said while driving that he felt sad. When I asked him why he said, “I’m sad because when I die (little sister) is going to be really sad.”

I had no idea how to respond to that. I told him that yes she would be sad if you died because she loves you. It’s not a bad thing to be sad about someone you love dying, it’s just means they loved you a lot and miss you. You shouldn’t worry about that. I kinda panicked and shut down the convo because it made me really uncomfortable. It’s been on my mind though and wondering if I should have handled it differently or talk to him about it some more? Is this normal thinking from a 7 year old? He’s a really happy kid and loves his sister more than anything, he says this frequently but idk should I be alarmed or schedule him an appointment to talk with someone? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/30nYdfg
