Pretty sure I had a parenting win tonight. (Idk if this should be posted here)

So it was about time for my daughter to go bed (2yo), when she gets tired she has the most these moments of absurd energy. I had been sitting on the very edge of the couch cushion while she played on the couch (obviously I was paying attention lol). Eventually she had started entertaining herself by bouncing between myself and the couch back. Wasn’t a big deal as it didn’t bother me because she was happy so I was happy so life goes on blah blah, no big deal. At one point she had her back to mine and pushed suddenly with her feet on the couch back, we both ‘fell off’ the couch to the floor however that also wasn’t a big deal because it wasn’t a big drop (maybe 12”) still startled me though. Rather than yell at her(which went through my mind cause it genuinely scared me and when I get scared I yell) for not paying attention to what she was doing THEN making sure everything was ok like my parents would have done, I made sure she was ok FIRST and then Said ” that was scary, maybe next time we should be a little more careful when we are on the couch. “ She is my first and I’m not sure if this SHOULD go here but I’m happy I’m not who/how my parents were and wanted to see if there were others with similar experiences regardless of their children’s age in life. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2VfDwzB
