I caught my son [10] masturbating in our hotel bed next to me.

My son is quite clearly going through puberty. I’ve tried to be open and helpful. I bought him a book for those times when he feels too uncomfortable to ask me questions about his changing body (his father is active in his life, but I don’t know what they talk about, if anything). I’ve had to confront him about searching for pornography in the several months ago and how it’s normal to be curious, but inappropriate for a kid his age to be looking at that kind of stuff - because it’s also very unrealistic.Well, he’s continued to be open with me. We have a great relationship because I’ve been a single mom his whole life. He’s asked me about his new pubic hair and if that’s normal. And now, this week, he noticed that he’s getting hair in his armpits too. I don’t make a big deal about anything, but I may have just hit my breaking point.We’re on vacation and the room we got (just for this one night) only has a large king sized bed. So he’s watching tv, under the blanket up to his neck, and I’m on my phone, and he was shaking the bed earlier and I asked him what he was doing, and he said nothing and stopped. And it started happening again about 15 minutes ago, and I try not to let my mind go to those places (because I feel like I’m the gross, terrible person for even thinking it), but I was getting annoyed so I threw the blanket down. And he was masturbating. I am sure I gave him a look of disgust and said, “stop it.” Followed by telling him to go take a shower and “that is something you do in the privacy of your own bedroom. Not in a room with your family or anyone else, and especially not when you’re sitting in the same bed as your mother.”So now.. I don’t know how to address it. I’d like to forget about it and move on because I feel traumatized and don’t want him to feel further embarrassed. But I also don’t want him to have this lingering memory that is the singular trigger in future sexual deviant behavior or something ridiculous like that.
