Beware of a lower standard of quality in strollers -- particularly in Britax.

The Washington Post just published a report describing how, after hundreds of claims of the BOB jogging stroller falling apart while being used causing many injuries, Britax fought the Consumer Product Safety Commission to prevent a recall. In short, after the 2016 election, the Republican-controlled commission shut out their Democrat counterparts to favor Britax over the course of the investigation.Ultimately, we as parents are responsible for the welfare of our children. And I know better than to try to pin this evil on Britax -- this is probably just the one report that managed to break the surface and catch a reporter's eye.So I'm discouraged companies building the equipment we entrust our children to are doing the barest minimum for safety -- and with the blessing of the regulators. As Britax explained, it "complied with all legal and regulatory reporting requirements". Hm.It seems to be that our best defense is (as always) to arm ourselves with the best research we can. I like (and pay for) ConsumerReports' solid safety tests; SaferProducts.gov is the Consumer Product Safety Commission's complaint database; and of course reading the instructions and watching the safety videos related to our strollers, carriers, and car seats. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2VgswyF
