18 month old keeps falling out while walking

Today I took my 18 month old out of his carseat, he couldn't stand and immediately fell and hit his head on the car. I brought him inside to get him food and a drink and left him on my bed. He normally climbs in and out of my bed fine. I hear him fall and run to him just in time for him to fall out and hit his head on the bathroom doorframe. It's like his whole little body just collapsed. I try to slow him down and get him hydrated, thinking maybe he overheated. Nothing worked. He hit his head a few more time and we said enough is a enough. We brought him to the ER. They did a drug test, check his blood sugar, checked his ears, and did a CAT scan. Nothing. My son was labeled as just clumsy. He's been walking since 9 months. He knows what he's doing. I brought home a toddler that still has a chance of knocking himself unconscious tonight. I plan to call his pediatrician in the morning and get him in as soon as possible. I've never seen anything like this. It reminds me of the start his father's seizures but no one his family has seizures until adulthood. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2AAyKnq

I miss my daughter.

Hi, all. I don't know where else to post this. I just need to get it off my chest and I love this community. So for the first two years, I was a stay-at-home dad to my daughter. She is almost three now, and I've been working full-time for the past few months to get us into a better living situation and save up for another car. My wife works full-time as well but her income wasn't enough for our goals.I've been going to school full-time for the past year as well. So work + school = barely any time to spend with daughter. I'm her favorite person in the world and she's mine. We do everything we can together and I adore everything about her. I just really miss taking care of her as a stay-at-home parent. It feels like now I'm just a dad who gets to do fun things with her, instead of actually raising her. And it sucks.Last night I worked from 11 PM to 9 AM, went to sleep, woke up at 2:30 PM to get ready to leave for a meeting at work, and my daughter was so excited to see me. Then she starts bawling once I tell her "dad has to go to work for you".I hope she grows up realizing what I do for her and I hope we don't lose that special bond we've had for years together.I'm sorry if this isn't the right place, I just figured people here would understand. The rest of Reddit usually thinks kids are evil. Thanks for reading. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OCZbMj

So happy to be joining /r/Parenting after years in /r/Infertility! Now I realize the real work begins... With my Premmie Twins. Any advice?

Got these little darlings home after being a month early. Luckily no NICU time. They were 4lb 3oz and 4lb 13oz. Sleep has been the hardest thing for me and my wife, also her milk isn't coming in as much as is needed to feed both girls. Any advice, encouragement or anything is welcome. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2AwGpTP

16-Year-Old Throws Tantrums For No Reason

Now, I just wanna clear it up that I have been in this household for around 4 years and thought that he would get used to me by now, but no, my 16-year-old step-son has a thing against me and I don't know why. I'd understand if he disliked me because I yell too much, I make him do useless chores, etc. because those are typical things teenagers get angry at their step-parents or parents or family in general for, but I do not do any of those things. The worst thing I have ever done to him ever was when I ate his french fries by accident, which happened 6 months ago. Yes, he hates me for simply existing and inhaling the same oxygen as him. Whenever I tell him to do things such as, "Can you clean your room, please?" or "Could you take the dog out for a walk, please?" He refuses almost instantly and starts screaming like a 6-year-old who did not get the toy they wanted. "Why do you ask only me to do that?! Why don't you ask your children to do the same?! It always has to be me because you hate me!" (Even though he knows that I ask my kids to do the same.) "You're not my real dad, you cannot make me do things.""Why don't your kids do that? You have a 12-year-old daughter who is perfectly capable of doing that, why does it have to be me?" He sometimes breaks stuff when he gets super angry and my wife dismisses this as a "phase." When I refuse to give him something or let him do something, he tells his mom exaggerated lies and acts like my kids have all the privileges in the country just because they are mine. "Why won't you let me use your credit card?" I calmly explained that the last time I allowed this, he spent almost everything on cigarettes and expensive bottles of wine. "I bet you let your kids use your credit card, but not me because I am not your real kid!" When I say that I do not, he calls me a liar then proceeds to tell his mother that I won't let him use my credit card because "I do not want him to get better clothes than my kids" which is so immature. When I try to give him advice, he instantly makes it sound like I am giving him commands because I am manipulative and too strict with him, then again, lies to his mother. "You should break up with your boyfriend because he is a bad influence, plus, he is 27. That is a huge age gap." He threw a tantrum then told my wife that I was homophobic and that I told him this: "You should break up with your boyfriend because I don't like that you are gay." He tried to make my wife divorce me several times, and even told her that I am racist (Even though my father himself was a black man.)I honestly do not know what to do or how to behave around him anymore. He harasses his half-siblings, attempted to drop his newborn half-brother earlier today and even claimed that I abused and beat him. It would not surprise me that the next thing he claims will be that I raped him or something. Is anyone dealing with the same thing or is perhaps a step-parent / parent that has some advice for dealing with this because honestly, I am desperate. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2va03zD

My son isn't circumcised and his pedi keeps tilling us to pull back his foreskin. How do I tell him his advice is wrong?

So my son is 4 months old and isn't circumcised. I love his pediatrician because he spends a lot of time with us answering questions and he always personally calls me back when I call and leave questions for him. My problem is that at every visit we have had, he tells us we need to be pushing his foreskin back lightly at diaper changes so that we can eventually see the head and check for yeast infections. Before choosing not to circumcise, I did a lot of research so I know that forced retraction is painful and leads to scarring. I just don't know how to politely tell him that retracting his skin is wrong. I would like to keep him as a pediatrician but if he isnt able to realize that retracting his foreskin is wrong then I will have to switch pediatricians. Whats the best way to tell him I'm not ok with it and he should change the way he handles uncircumcised boys? Has anyone else effectively gotten through to their pediatrician? Should I just switch doctors and not waste my time? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2KiV7gv

I’m extremely jealous of mother’s with involved fathers

Hi all,I have a 9 month old daughter who is my absolute world. I would do anything for her, and I have done everything I physically can for her. I put school on hold, put a pause on my art career, and gave up many friendships for her. But I do not regret any of it and would do it all over again for her, just because I love her so much. I work 3 days a week, and all the money I make 100% goes to her and things she needs. I can’t see things being any other way, life just seems so right with her.But her father on the other hand, barely seems to be phased by her existence. Getting him to help me with her or do anything with her is like pulling teeth with him. I can’t imagine why bringing a life into the world isn’t MIND BLOWING to him. He just seems to not love her the way I do, or they way I expect a father to love his daughter.Every time I hear stories on here of proud, involved, loving fathers I get so jealous and mad... I barely even want to finish reading a post when it’s made by a father. Even in person when my friends or co workers tell me about their great husbands and how involved and loving they are, I have to try my hardest not to roll my eyes or show how upset I am.I just wish I could have experienced that with my daughter- having her father attend every pregnancy appointment, having him ask to hold her and play with her, having him excited to see her or be proud to show her off... everything just feels so one sided and I feel so sad for my baby.I guess this is more of a rant than a plea for advice, seeing as I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this. If anything, does any one have any tips for controlling the jealousy? Or words of advice from someone who has been through this too? Does it go away, or will I be bitter my entire life... via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OBmTs8

[Rant] Daycare allowed my child to be injured

I’m so pissed off at my daughters daycare centre right now. Yesterday, my wife gets a call that my daughter fell, hit the back of her head on the concrete ground and her nose started bleeding. It sent both of us into a panic. We both started off towards the centre so we could take her to the ER to get checked out. When my wife got there and to our daughter, she called me with what had really happened. The daycare had put a wood pallet against their little stone wall outside for the kids to climb on. Not secured, just leaned up against the wall to be used like a little ladder. My daughter was trying to climb up it, fell backwards, crashing her head onto the concrete, then the pallet crashed onto her face, causing a huge lump on her head and a bloody nose. We took her to the children’s ER, and fortunately she was okay. On the way home my daughter told me that while it hurt to have it hit her, the fact that she was trapped and couldn’t get out scared her, and that bothered her more. I KNOW that dumb stupid (expletive) wasn’t paying attention. She was daydreaming about whatever stupid people daydream about. I’ve actually walked in to pick up my daughter and had her not even look up from whatever she was doing to say hi, or bye, whatever. Fortunately yesterday was her last day and I won’t have to see her again (unrelated to this incident). So today, the daycare tells my wife that, despite her insisting on getting rid of the wood pallets, they will keep them, but ONLY to have them laying down. They won’t stand them up again. I’m half way tempted to jut take my sawzall in and cut them up myself. Rant over. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OB69kB
