My husband and I (40 years) are long time lurkers here and need advice on how to help our 2.6 year old daughter with Mild (?) Expressive Language Disorder. We are a tri-lingual family. She has limited vocabulary and its mostly in English. She says just two sentences. (I don't want to go out/ house). She just started early intervention but our country has poor access for this. Our therapist might not be a very specialised professional. I need to help her more than therapy.Trouble is she doesn't repeat sounds/ words even when she can, while I am trying to teach. She is not willing to keep eye contact or repeat when I try to teach. But she is willing to work with therapist. When you push her to say the word eg; water when thirsty, she gives up and leaves and stays thirsty. She doesn't ask for things, just opens fridge and gets stuff or says "this/that". With sounds she doesn't know, she is not even willing to try or modify (as in 'ba' instead of 'wa').I am extremely worried and is losing sleep over what I have read about prognosis from various sites. My questions are:Please give me directions on how to make her repeat. Is 30 minutes with Therapist/ 5 days a week sufficient at this age?How did you help your child to overcome ELD.Is there any literature that can help me on specifics. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/38qcrfI
