How do I teach my toddler not to hit?

My toddler will be two in a few months. She is the sweetest girl ever, but lately she has been hitting me in the face or violently ripping off my glasses when she is upset, and sometimes even just playing. I have firmly told her “NO.” I have swatted the back of her leg. I have put her in timeout. I have pretended to cry and acted like she really hurt me.
