Tonight my neighbor came over to inform me that her boyfriend saw my 10 year old daughter pick up our cat by the tail and swing it (like a pendulum).I confronted my daughter and she admitted to it. I am very very upset. Background: My daughter is diagnosed with ADHD and autism (mild, asbergers-like). She can be an impulsive child but she's extremely intelligent, well above grade level academically. She has some social trouble, but mostly because she's in her own world and is perfectly happy to play by herself. She does often hurt herself or others out of clumbsiness (she has poor proprioception) and I often have to remind her the cat doesn't like to be picked up, but I never expected anything like this.I spoke to her after she calmed down and she said she was just trying to move the cat to where she wanted her and she feels very bad about hurting her (the cat seems fine but I have a vet appointment tomorrow). She's currently banned from all electronics as punishment.Should I contact the school counselor? Should I worry my neighbor will contact animal welfare? Should we try to find a new home for the cat? :(Everything that comes up when I google this is either talking about toddlers or serial killers. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2QFO7B8
