Things Your Teachers Did That Seemed Fine, But You Now Realize Were Creepy/Inappropriate/Bad

Today when my son was whining and tattling on his brother, I said, “Stop tattling, no one likes a tattle tale...” and had a flashback to my first grade teacher who had actually made a long stuffed tail, with an elastic waist band, and if someone tattled on a classmate, she would make them wear the tail for the rest of the day. I can’t imagine a teacher doing that today, which is good - I really only remember feeling bad for the kids wearing the tail, and I don’t think it ever changed anyone’s behavior.I also recently was reminded how my 3rd grade (male) teacher would insist on “taking your temperature” by putting his hands up your shirt if you told him you (a girl) felt sick and wanted to go to the nurse. I don’t know why this seemed reasonable at the time, but it wasn’t until years later that I thought about it and realized that a male teacher putting his hands on female students’ bodies under their clothes is beyond inappropriate. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/343HOeM
