We were out at the park today and see a young family trying to take a photo of their two boys. They wanted them to stand and look how they wanted but the boys just wanted to relax and make funny faces. The mother ended up screaming, even smacked one of them and and told them they were going home.Why? Just because they don’t conform to the societal ideal that you have to smile for pictures? They were just being kids, having fun. Sometimes us adults forget that and turn fun things into something serious. They weren’t being particularly naughty.When we take photos, we let them make all the faces they want, it ends up being a really fun time rather than just making it something overly serious. Generally they calm down and just do a smile, and there’s the “normal” photo. Makes me cringe seeing families get into this huge fight with kids over photos via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/34qwnhU
