Son likes wearing bows in his hair, should we talk about it?

We recently got some bows for our daughter, and her older brother (3) took an interest in wearing them. We don't care, but we also realize the world is a terrible place and someone will almost inevitably say something mean to him or try to make him feel ashamed. My wife and I are kind of split on whether to approach it. She (correctly) believes someone will say something at some point to hurt his feelings and that it's only right to warn him of this possibility. I am really worried that even mentioning the possibility will make him not want to wear them, and he shouldn't be introduced to this complicated mess when he is three and should just have fun and be himself. Also bear in mind this is a new thing and he's only worn them a few times, and today the first time out of the house. I'd just like input on whether and how to approach it with him. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2ZIDLld
