Dear Reddit,I am a parent to an older toddler. Last week, I placed her in a daycare where I was also employed. It was the first week for the both of us.This weekend, after coming home, her father and I were making dinner in the kitchen and she was playing in the dining room. All of a sudden she started shouting that she was going to kill herself. I stopped what I was doing to go watch her and she continued to display bizarre behavior by stating she was wanted to hurt herself and then abruptly said she was "going" to hurt herself before trying to do so. I asked her why she was saying and doing these things, but she did not respond to me an instead claimed she was going to kill our cat and tried to stomp on it.I have fostered animals all throughout her life, hand raising many of them. She has never done anything like this and it is so completely out of character. It shook me to my core.I did not return to work today and have also reported this to child services. I feel like I have failed my child in some way because I have no idea what she was exposed to or how this incredibly trusting and sweet girl would seemingly turn into a psychopath overnight. I am looking a place to vent about this deeply unsettling incident and ask if any other parents out there have ever had this kind of thing happen to them/how they responded. She has not said or done anything disturbing before or since. I don't know what to do. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2HEyaGo
