Gift giving limits

Hey fellow parents! With Christmas approaching (my family are notorious plan-aheaders) I’m really considering sending out a “minimalist-ish” gift buying guide in an attempt to limit the number of gifts my kids get. 6 yo boy, 18month old girl. The problems here are 1) my own mother will be offended, will ignore it, and will overbuy anyway. 2) my sister (the plan-aheader) is probably done shopping already - she can’t walk past a good deal. and 3) I don’t want us to seem ungrateful, but hubby and I are really trying to make our son value the things he has - and also we are already drowning in “stuff.” If each family follows the plan, that’s still 35 new things per kid. Any thoughts??Here is the gift suggestion list, from Pinterest. Something to wear, Something to read, Something they want, Something they need, Something to make, Something to eat, Plus one more thing via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2UBNk4j
