Went to check on my 3.5-year-old after he woke up from a nap. Pretty sure he was playing with his penis under the blanket. Maybe because he tried to put a seashell on it before he went down?🤦♀️ Me: What are you doing, baby? Him: (Makes a coy expression.) Me: Are you playing with your penis? Him: (Nods and mumbles.) Me: Hey, honey, playing with your penis is for when you are alone, okay? Do you want me to give you some private time? Him: (Clearly unsure of how to respond or if he’s in trouble.) Me: It’s okay, honey. I’ll give you some private time. (Step out and close the door for about four minutes.) Him: (Opens the door when my husband is passing by.) I’m done, Daddy. Husband: You’re done? Okay, buddy! (Proceed as usual.) Sort of proud of how we handled this, but also not terribly sure that we did so optimally. Is this behavior normative? Any thoughts on how we could have handled it differently? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2mrc9CY
