Is it a fair expectation that your children will be open about their crushes, first kiss, losing their virginity, etc.

My wife and I are a same sex couple. We grew up very differently. She was always very open and honest with her family about things like this. Her family is warm and open. They don't keep anything from each other. She told them that she was gay when she was 11. Told them about her first kiss when she was 15. Told them about losing her virginity when she was 19.I grew up in a much different family. I didn't come out until I was 23 because I was afraid of being cutoff from my family. Our 6 year old was talking about a girl he wants to marry and my wife mentioned how she hopes to keep this relationship going in this direction. I get wanting to be close and in the loop but aren't there things kids don't tell their parents?I think my wife has unfair expectations. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2FRoLdx
