My 13yo is going through puberty and as happens, her body is changing. For the first year, I think it was embarrassing to her and my wife and I were getting concerned that she was having some body image issues. She would always wear the big baggy sweatshirts, etc.Recently, she's been starting to find clothes for herself that are very cute and appropriate. Today, she and a friend decided they wanted me to take them to the park to take some pictures in their matching outfits. Sure, no problem, I'll walk the dog and laugh at the people still playing Pokemon Go.They were up ahead of me a ways, and they walked past a group of about 10 teenage boys who were hanging out. I watched as all of them turned their heads, and then I saw one call out to them, and even begin to approach them.My heart sped up. I was tortured inside for my poor daughter and the injustice of what she is going to have to deal with her whole life from chauvinist jerks. How dare they sexualize her - she's only 13! I started to walk a little faster in case in needed to sick my dog on one of those morons, but before I could get there, she and her friend had already started walking away. When I caught up with them, I asked what those guys wanted. She said, "oh they asked if the one guy could do 20 push ups could they have their Snapchat names. We said no that's stupid and left."Then I remembered that teenage boys are idiots and have no game.I was proud of her, she owned the whole interaction. She wasn't interested in juvenile losers. I'm raising a beautiful young woman, inside and out. Then she turned to her friend and said, "want to walk by and look at that cute guy again?"I need a drink. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Ohutfr
