Can I go for a 2 week assignment after my wife gives birth?

Hi,My wife will give birth on Sept 28th, although as the baby is bigger they say he may come 1 or 2 weeks earlier.I am supposed to go for a 2 weeks assignment, 1 week in Taiwan and 1 week in China in thr middle of October, we live in Europe. My company knows my wife is pregnant, and legally they could force me to go, but I can say no. Problem is these are 2 important projects for which I am responsible and there is nobody else who could do my job, so they would have to postpone the work, which would cost serious money for the company and also reputation.I asked some of my coworkers who are mothers and they said that they would prefer their husband work in town for at least 1 month before leaving for longer period.If I go, my wife's mother and sister can sleep over and help with anything while I am away.How soon can/should I leave for the assignment? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2ZmNDSl
