Could somebody give me advice for bathing my special needs teenager?

I'm appreciate any help given. It's hard for me to find caretaker support so I'm hoping somebody here would have advice. My son is mentally a year old, between a year or two when it comes to communication. He can speak and understand me but only speaks sparingly and does ADHD makes it hard for him to focus on what people are saying. Other adl's are getting better but bath time is where things get difficult. He has a bath seat where he can be submerged in the water and I keep him warm and covered with bath blankets. He's fine with me putting him in the tub and sitting in the water but when I try to wash him, he wants to grab everything. It's difficult to wash his body because he's always reaching for whatever is in my hand whether it's a sponge or cloth, or he's always trying to grab to me when I'm kneeled by the tub. He does have a few bath toys and he knows what everything is, he's familiar with the cloth and I use the same soaps and bottles for everything.I've tried to get new toys for the bath and I will leave wet rag in his reach but he doesn't interact with it, he just wants the one that I'm holding. If he takes the rag out of my hand or if I give it to him, he throws it into the water or out of the tub. A few times he will take in then hand it back to me and when I give it back to him he will just hand it back again. Sometimes he'll grab my arm and press his face against my arm or against me. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2y8bngK
