Yeah...so I've looked online and not found anything that fully describes what's problematic in this movie. It's much more adult than the first Wreck-It Ralph, so parents of young children be warned. Saw it with my 5yo and as a parent, I had three major problems with this film. Spoilers ahoy!(1) The film features Slaughter Race - basically your Grand Theft Auto or similar mature racing game in a lawless metro, with a crew of characters who are real thugs. They burn players with a flame thrower - it's not graphic but was still shocking to see it included. Now this sort of M-rated game is not the kind of thing I could ever imagine letting my son play at any age. But the film not only features it, but has Vanellope being drawn to it and wanting to stay because she gets to drive a cool car. This kind of game, to me has no place being in a kids film.(2) The giant Ralph monster gave me the willies. So, in the final act, a virus has created a bunch of Ralph clones. But they're errors, so they don't act like the real Ralph, which is scary enough for a young kid. But then they combine into some hideous symbiotic organism to make a giant Ralph. How do I explain this? Think of like the fabled rat king, or Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare before Christmas, where he's just a bunch of bugs. And they're living, and writhing, and squirming, and it's an unsettling image, right? Except they all look like Ralph, which just maxes out the creepiness factor. The visuals here are just macabre, and it gave my 5yo nightmares afterwards.(3) This is more minor, but I'm sure most of the subject matter went right over my 5yo's head. He's just not old enough to be navigating the Internet much, and huge chunk of the story is made up of this - it includes viral videos, getting likes, pop-up ads, spam, dark web, and Ebay of all things. Just a lot of terminology and computer behavior that I'm sure he has no reference points for yet. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2PUj065
