IEP Question - can a professional remove themselves from the IEP team & refuse to provide services over disagreement with parent?

I'm not the parent of the child on the IEP (though I am a parent)- I'm the aunt in this situation. I go to the IEP meetings to take notes, be an extra set of ears, and ask questions when something seems screwy (because I know a little more about special ed law than the parents).Basically, the dad got upset at the IEP meeting and raised his voice. He was not violent, made no threats. He's a big guy, and I can see where if you didn't know him, it would be intimidating. He stayed seated, vented his frustration verbally, did not curse, and I would not even characterize it as yelling. One professional on the IEP team took the comments personally and became very defensive. Dad clarified that the comments were not directed at her, multiple times. She got up in a huff and excused herself from the meeting and declared she was removing herself from the IEP team. She had certain testing data and was a key part of the discussion that was supposed to occur during the meeting regarding whether child qualified for certain services. But, because she left the meeting, this topic could not be discussed. The school is now (unilaterally) saying that the child is ineligible for these services, even though there are several concerns documented in the IEP and MET report that indicate these services may be necessary. The principal called mom the day after IEP meeting to state that the faculty that removed herself from the meeting would not be involved in the IEP any further and would not be providing services. Also noteworthy - dad realized immediately after the kerfuffle that his behavior disrupted the meeting and offered to leave the meeting so that the professional would feel comfortable returning. But, the professional refused. Is this a "thing"? Can they refuse services to a child because the parent got pissed during the IEP meeting? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2AiL6gu
