Friends of my wife and I invited us to go cut down a tree for Xmas this past weekend, early I know, but it was the only weekend our schedules lined up. There's a national forest not too far away that lets you cut down your own trees. Up until now we've been using the same fake tree for something like 7 years. So off we go like the Griswolds on our tree cutting adventure. That was actually really great. Before we went though, my wife had the idea that "since we have two boys (5 and 3), two dogs and two cats who love messing up our fake tree every year we should be smart this year". We have a lot of really nice ornaments that we are scared to put out for fear of them getting destroyed, so wife says "what if, we go to the dollar store and stock up on cheap ornaments and let the boys decorate, that way if it gets trashed, who cares?" That was a great idea. When we got back from cutting the tree the boys were too excited and couldn't wait to decorate. The tree we cut down is actually really nice, and the boys did a really great job of decorating. Also, I'm actually really impressed with the quality of the ornaments from the dollar store. That's the possible LPT part. I'd recommend anyone with small kids/pets to go get decorations from the dollar store. The rant part is that since the tree has been up, no one has messed with it! The cats haven't shown the least bit of interest, where as with the fake tree they would be climbing inside of it and knocking down ornaments and getting tangled in the lights. Same thing with the boys. It's a good thing, don't get me wrong. But just when I thought I could predict their behavior, they throw me a curve ball. What the hell guys? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2PI7cUl
