So, our family lives in a one-bedroom apartment and has two kids (2 year old girl and 7 month old boy). We've been looking to move to a larger place and are currently on a waiting list for a larger 2 bedroom apartment. In the meantime, we've been getting by without much problem until now. In our bedroom is a large king sized bed and one crib. The toddler has bedshared with us from early on, and when the baby was born we put him in the crib at night for sleep. Ever since the baby got to be a little older, around 5-6 months, he's been sleeping terribly in the crib, waking up every two hours and crying. He will fall asleep within minutes if he's in bed beside one of us and will sleep all night without waking, but try to put him to sleep in the crib by himself and he'll cry like crazy. It is possible to get him to fall asleep by lying on the bed with him and then transfer him to the crib, but then he'll wake up from the noise my toddler makes when I'm putting her to bed in the same room an hour later (baby goes to bed around 6:30, toddler around 7:30) I would just put him in our bed with us but with two kids that's too cramped. For the past couple of weeks or so, my husband has been sleeping in the living room on a top mattress on the floor along with the baby while I sleep in the bedroom with the toddler. So far this arrangement allows everyone to sleep at night mostly undisturbed, but it's not a long term solution though as it has problems of its own. We're now wondering what to do until we can move to a two bedroom. Here are a few options we've been pondering. Should we:1) Convert the crib to a toddler bed for the toddler to sleep in and move the baby to our bed. Not sure how this will go as toddler has been so used to sleeping with us since she was born. We're ready for her to move to her own bed and planned on doing so anyway when we move to a two bedroom.2) Continue bedsharing with the toddler and attempt to sleep train the baby to accept the crib and get used to the noise we make. This will involve loads of crying and we're reluctant to deal with this as the baby crying will disturb/delay the toddler's sleep.3) Keep toddler in bedroom, move the crib to the living room and put baby to sleep out there. There's barely any space for this but we could make it happen if we rearranged some things. The main problem with this option is that because our living room area and kitchen area are one big room, so if we cook or clean and stuff like that it makes noise and might disturb the baby.4) ???Anyone have any feedback about this situation? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2cvflZy
