3 year old has changed. Help.

He went from being a very independent and helpful little boy to a very whiny and needy kid. He used to love to help make food and always kept himself entertained. Now all he does is whine and cry about everything and will NOT do anything by himself anymore. He won't even walk down our front stairs by himself, which he has always done.I think the problem may be from missing his older half brother. He is 8 and lives in another country, so we usually get him for 5-6 months out of the year. He just went back a couple months ago. My son's behavior problem started about a month ago now. We try to Skype with the older brother but the 3 year old won't have anything to do with Skyping.When we go out riding my son will ask me if we can go get his brother or go to his house and see him. He tells me constantly now he doesn't want to play alone. Any tips, thoughts, ideas??
