Did I make the right call at the hospital?

Throwaway so my friends don't find out what happened. My daughter got sick yesterday afternoon after she ate breakfast. She was vomiting non-stop for hours, and had a temperature of 101.1. I decided to take her to the emergency room. So, we went and waited for a while until a nurse tended to her. After a few simple exams, the nurse then wanted to do a transvaginal ultrasound to check for pregnancy. I asked if that was necessary, and why not just go by the urine test that was administered. The nurse responded that sometimes urine tests are inconclusive. Now my daughter had no pregnancy symptoms. The vomiting hadn't been happening for days or anything. It seemed to be a case of food poisoning. And my daughter had her period on 6/23. Also, she has no boyfriend and doesn't appear to be sexually active. I get some kids do that behind their parents' backs but my daughter isn't very social and has trouble even looking people in the eyes.Well, the nurse began to press me on it. My daughter begged me not to do the exam because she didn't want something to be put inside her. I agreed, and went to sign an AMA so we could leave. My daughter feels better, and her fever's been going down. She is grateful for not allowing the nurse to "poke her down there" but...did I really make the right choice? I know my daughter's not pregnant but what if I should have done the exam anyway? Or was the nurse in the wrong? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/29cuPgE
