I've been dating a single mom for two years now, and have recently proposed to her. She said yes, and we've been making plans for the future. I've tried my best to be a good influence to her son (he's white), and am prepared to accept him as my step-son.This being said, I'm a first generation Chinese American. I expect to have children of my own with her, as well as creating a multi-cultural household where chinese holidays and traditions are celebrated with equal measure as American ones. It's extremely important to me that my future step-son is able to speak with me and my parents in Mandarin, as well as accept my culture as part of his heritage. If I marry this woman, would it be fair to give my son this kind of life, where he'd take chinese language lessons, and experience a culture where he will always be recognized as white (Outside of our family)? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2artqmv
