If vomit is a trigger for you, maybe don’t read this one. It’s not too graphic but it is 100% about cleaning up vomit.ON TO THE QUESTION:My kiddo has the stomach flu and puked in the car yesterday. Alllll over the car seat. It’s a rear facing bucket seat. I followed the instructions to remove all the fabrics. I hosed them down in the shower to remove the solid pieces 🤢 and washed them in the washing machine, and they seem to have cleaned up ok. So I think I am good there (I also sprayed everything with a layer of Lysol after). My question is about cleaning the parts that don’t come off or can’t be washed.I pulled the straps out and washed them with soap in the sink. (The instructions say in big letters not to put them in the machine because that can compromise the strength of the straps (?!?)). They seem to be ok now. But there are two pieces (the strap that comes up through the legs, and the strap that you pull to tighten) that don’t detach from the seat. They were right in the most targeted barf area and COVERED in it. I wiped them with soapy water last night and they looked ok, but now that they’ve dried I can see that there’s still barf embedded in the little creases and seams (this is made obvious due to the barf being hot pink). 🤢 Also, the car seat itself has tons of nooks and crannies inside that I can’t get to. I tried turning it upside down and kind of shaking it out but didn’t get much. Can I hose this thing down in the yard? Will that compromise the safety of it or make it moldy or something? How do you clean up when the puke is INSIDE THE BUCKLE ITSELF?Should I just set it on fire and start over?People whose kids puke a lot, I need your expertise!! Thanks in advance! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2XoJcWR
