This is so exciting. Yesterday we spent all afternoon at a beach bbq. My 5-month-old was enjoying interacting with everyone and was so distracted that he never took a nap, even though he had major sleepy eyes the whole time.So fast-forward to bed time. We're at home and I'm nursing him in the rocking chair to get him to sleep, like I often do. He's had a big bottle so his tummy is full. He's doing the thing where his eyes are closed/he's sleepy but he's still nursing super hard and he's all tense/super focused, which he does when he's nursing for comfort. I know that this could easily go on for like 45 minutes and I'm sooo tired. So I just stand up with him and start walking to the bedroom. His eyes fly open but instead of trying to soothe him to sleep I just lay him down in his crib. Try to pop a pacifier in his mouth but he doesn't want it. I go and lay down in bed with the lights out and just listen. He's moving around and scratching his fingernails against the side of the crib, but he doesn't fuss or cry. 10 minutes later I realize he's fast asleep. This has never happened! I think it might be a fluke because he was so tired from his busy day, but I'm hoping not and that it will happen again tonight! When did your baby first put themselves to sleep and did it get easier from that point, or was it still a struggle after that? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2XoohTE
