Our best friends where pregnant at the same time as we. We had an easy pregnancy, theirs was difficult, our child had no problems after birth, he was in hospital due to infection for a month. Our child is very easy to parent, theirs had more energy than a squirrel on energy drinks. But the last few months he improved and was a lovely child. And now his father called me and told us that he is in ICU with a spinal cord infection which spreads to the brain atm. This infection is incredibly rare, like two cases a year in germany. They try to give him anti immune disorder shots and hope that he will pull through, but most of the other child's the last years died. I know this child since birth, I cannot imagine a world without him. And how to even comfort their parents?
