We switch him to a new private school this year and he was expelled after barely a month; his mom and I have shared custody, so I broke the lease to my apartment to rent in another apartment that was zoned to a better public school. He started there about two weeks ago and virtually every day there have been an incident that ends in a phone call to both parents; he already have had three in school suspensions. Last Friday we met with the school staff and a counselor to come up with a plan and carry out some assessments tests. We are already attending counseling sessions, but I feel this is getting out of hand and I don’t know what else to do. He’s smart and this is something that everyone at the different schools have pointed out: academically there’s no complaints and he test above grade. He speaks very well, have an extensive vocabulary but ...he just can’t refrain from hitting or touching other students. When confronted by the school staff he admits that it’s wrong and he shouldn’t be doing that, but when they ask why he did it he says he doesn’t know”there’s no reason”, not that he doesn’t know.We have already taken all his toys and TV watching privileges, but that doesn’t work because at the time the misbehavior occurs I don’t think he can relate his actions to any consequences. Either that or he’s just defiant and doesn’t care. Why we work with the counselors, what else can I do? What are we facing here? Where should I be focusing? Any books that I could read? Thanks! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/37d4F9M
