I’m concerned for my kid’s safety on the bus.

Throwaway for obvious reasons.I’d appreciate some advice on how to handle this situation that happened a few days ago.My 4K kid got off the bus crying. He said a kid in 1st grade choked him on the bus. According to my kid the older kid said he wanted my kid’s hat then proceeded to grab his throat before he could respond.I emailed the principal immediately. It’s the weekend so I guess they don’t check their email since I haven’t heard back from them.I don’t want the older kid expelled or severely punished. I want him to apologize to my kid and I’d like to get his side of what happened. Possibly meet with the counselor a few times. I don’t want my kid to feel unsafe on the bus.I’ve told my kid they are allowed to hit back and to yell loudly if something like this happens to defend himself. It broke my heart when he said “I always forget that” while sobbing. Is there anything else I should be doing? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Xkqu2w
