Briefly: my daughter was in a Montessori style school last year with grades 1-3 in the same class. She was a 1st grader and experienced verbal and emotional abuse from an older girl (3rd) that flew under the radar of both myself and the teacher until near the end of the year. I transferred her this fall into a neighborhood school with same-age classrooms. We met with the teacher beforehand to share my daughter’s experience and she was fantastic. The first few days at the new school were rough. My daughter was afraid of the other kids and understandably shy and withdrawn. By week two, she was back to her bubbly nonstop talking self and had a new bestie to play with at recess. Turns out her amazing teacher has a daughter in second grade too and that’s the new bestie.I suspect that the teacher made her daughter play with mine or at least ensured that they got to know each other quickly. I’m so grateful i can’t even begin to talk about it without getting emotional. I want to ask so I can properly thank her for caring so much about my kid but I also worry that I’ll be a blubbering mess and make it weird.Should I investigate or let it be? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2KlPOA4
