Another birthday party post

My kids turned 5 and 8 last week so we decided to have a big birthday bash for the two kids. My son invited his entire class plus a few other kids with quite a bit of RSVPs, my daughter invited a handful of her pre-K friends and again a couple RSVPs.Well, none of my daughters classmates came and only 1 of my sons. Luckily for us, they have a lot of cousins who did come.My daughter didn’t seem to notice that none of her friends came. At least she didn’t mention it.My son, on the other hand, mentioned at least one friend who didn’t come who said they were. He was quite disappointed, but his best friend did come and he was pretty happy with that.So only family came, and they would have come anyway, so no more birthday parties. We will do birthday outings with each kid who can invite one or two friends to join them from now on. The money, the place, stress, and frustration was not worth it. I prepared so much food expecting a lot more people to come. We begged people to take food to go just so it wouldn’t be wasted. My kids were happy with who did come and the presents they got (daughter got her doll house she has been asking for a while and son got money for the first time (you would think he was King Midas or something)).If we do a birthday party in the future we are only inviting family.TL:DR: another birthday party story where no other kids showed up even though they RSVP but luckily we have family so kids only noticed a little bit. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2NdwczC
