When your kid pretends to know things they don't. 5 year old

My son will try to give lectures about stuff he doesn't know (i.e. the definition of "sarcasm", or why humans haven't encountered aliens).I try to gently just tell him the truth about what he's getting wrong about but he just doubles down and insists he's right ("sarcasm" means "teasing", aliens live in volcanos on other planets). Most of the explanations he's inventing are about things he's too young to fully understand. It's awesome he's thinking about these things, and some of his explanations could even be right (the alien thing). But it's really annoying to older kids and adults when he presents himself as smarter than them because he "figured it out".Any suggestions? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2NtiISE
