4 yr old having daily accidents

Hello fellow Parental Warriors! Looking for a little help regarding my almost 4 yr old (~2 months) boy who has basically daily #1 accidents. He’s potty trained in that he understands where to go and what to do. He even has good days where everything happens the way it’s supposed to happen. However, at least several times a week, he’ll come home from daycare with a bag of dirty clothes or he’ll have an accident playing with his toys around the house. We’ve tried instituting regular timed breaks during the weekends (when he’s not in daycare) but he generally refuses to go or throws a tantrum or both. Even if he full on sets himself (while playing, while watching tv, whenever), he’ll gladly just sit in his wet clothes until he’s told to go change. Even then, he refused to go or throws a tantrum or both. Rarely does he happily go change/go potty after he’s wet himself.Lately, as in this past weekend he’s done two new things. First, he’s changed his own clothes presumably to hide that he wet himself and second he’s started saying “it’s not pee pee it’s water.”My wife and I don’t have any more good ideas. We’ve tried to take the calm, “it’s ok, accidents happen” approach, but we fear that being too calm won’t get us results. Can anyone share stories of similar behavior and what you did about it? Can anyone share similar stores and how long it took for the child to “get it”? Can anyone share words of wisdom about potty training in general? Thanks all. May the odds ever been in our collective favor :) via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/32MTJND
