Update to Delayed Language Toddler

Original PostI am posting this update for any parents that come to /r/Parenting looking for resources like I did. So many times you find parents looking for answers or direction that find posts with similar problems, but never how things developed or improved over time.So as a general background, our son was diagnosed with delayed language, receptive and expressive. We started Sept 2018 with a speech therapist, who sees him twice a week for 30 minutes and he continues to see him today. Then in October, with doctor recommendation, we get tubes in his ears to drain fluid that wouldn't go away with antibiotic treatment.Since September, he has made improvements in leaps and bounds, especially since the tubes were inserted. So many improvements, I won't go through each individual one, but his speech therapist has recommended they need to adjust their goals since he has met or exceeded each individual goal they originally had. He speaks in full sentences, has unique ideas and unprompted talk. He even tells the wife and I "I love you" before bedtime! When we first started in Sept, we were just hoping to have him be able to say "trick or treat" by Halloween. Which he will now tell you is his favorite holiday. We still feel like we have a ways to-go, but we are so proud of the progress he has made. The process has been much like losing weight. Each individual day, you don't see much improvement when you look into the mirror, but after weeks or months you look back to where you were and changes are more than apparent. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2s9x8Ko
