Dealing with CPS?

First off, this is a throwaway account. On Friday, my therapist informed me that he was going to have to report my husband to CPS for abuse against my 8 year old daughter. He did not physically touch/hit her.Obligatory backstory:My husband and I have a really terrible relationship. I've been a SAHM for the past 8 years (married for 5) and it's making it very hard to leave. He is an alcoholic and has no plans to ever stop. Our relationship is good for the most part when he doesn't drink, but that's very rare. Anyway, onto the CPS report story. Last week, my daughter came home from school, she wanted a snack, so I said she could have an apple. She didn't want that and started throwing a tantrum about it. She hates apples, they're the grossest things ever, ect. So I flat out told her apple or nothing. She starts screaming again so my husband intervenes. He gets into her face and starts screaming that she can have an apple or nothing. She yells back and he punches the wall that she is standing next too. She flips and runs to her room. She starts yelling at him from her room. He goes into the kitchen, grabs and apple and whips it at the wall in her room. She shares a room with bunk beds and was on the lower bunk. So he threw it at the wall in between the beds. They scream more at each other, then he punches a hole in her bedroom door. The whole time I'm yelling at him to stop, go outside, take a breath, whatever. He finally goes into the garage and that's the end of it. He does apologize afterwards to myself and to her.So my therapist called CPS. This is not our first CPS call. The first was last year, I was trying to hurry my son out of the door because we were late for school and as I steered him, he tripped over a boot and smacked his head on a shelf. He then wrote in his school journal that I pushed him into the shelf. So his teacher told me that she had to report it but made it clear that it was likely an accident because she knew me. (She had my daughter in her class the previous year). After that novel. Is she going to be taken away? Will they warn me if they do come? What should I expect? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2DNnTaD
