My son is 15. He won't go to school. Background Information: My spouse died in Feb of this year so we are coping. I'm adjusting to be a single dad. In the last two weeks I have had a killer work assignment so I had to leave before he got up so it was up to him to catch the bus. He never took the bus. I planned to drive him in today, he wouldn't leave the bathroom until I HAD to leave for work. He has ADD and he's flunking algebra, among other classes. He says he won't go to school because people are laughing at him that he's stupid and needs extra help. He's a walking grunting mass of "You can't make me." He won't do extra homework. He won't turn in assignments. He won't ask for help. He doesn't want to talk to me. He won't talk to others. He won't go to therapy. He has not earned the internet or xbox gaming or YouTube so he's just sitting at home on his phone. Data Plan goes away next but I expect rage when that happens. Food, Shelter, Care, Attention I can give freely, Gaming is a privilege that must be earned. I'm the worst dad ever for not giving him what he wants, letting him talk to his friends over Xbox. He says he doesn't respect me. I didn't become a parent for him to love me all the time. I am baffled. Any carrots I can try that will help him WANT to go to school? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OMc19S
