How do I talk the father of my children about spanking?

Both of us were spanked growing up and he said it helped put him in line and I say it negatively affected who I was. I don't want any spanking in the house when this kid comes but he says it's not a negotiable thing. I've shown him studies and then he pulls up stuff about how positive it is. I show him what the CDC says and then he says it's the CDC what do they know about children.I know he listens to reason, but at this point I'm not sure how to talk to him about it. Spanking is one of the only things I firmly insist on, usually I'm pretty flexible with what his ideas are, but this one maybe a deal breaker. How can I convince him?
