Parents whose kids have phones: what do you wish you had known?

My sons (10) dad and I have been split for almost two years. My son is getting to the age where it would be nice to be able to communicate with him more frequently and without going through the other parent. Plus he'll be walking to and from school on his own in less than a year.I'm thinking of giving him my old iPhone with no SIM card in it for now. I'll see how responsible he is with it and then consider adding him to my plan in the next 6 months or so.I know there are plenty of tricks kids use to get around parental settings and such. And believe me, I'm doing my research. But I'm sure someone whose been through this before will be able to tell me more than books and websites.Advice? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2gaCvlg
