I have a 3 year old son who overall is a pretty prefect kid. Since he was 6 months old we follow the same routine for bedtime etc. His current routine is naps from around noon or 1 until 230 or 3. Then we have dinner books and bath in and around 7pm. He goes to bed easily most of the time. Lately he's been staying up a Tiny bit later. But not usually past 730 or 8. He used to sleep until 630 or 7. Now he's getting up as early as 4am. And earlier. He switched to a big boy bed and this seemed to start the day after. He loves the bed. And he was sleeping in a bed with no rails for 6 months before. He just gets up earlier and earlier every day. Previous week he was up every day at 530 am or earlier. This last week he's up at 430 or earlier. Today he was up at 10 to 4. I've also gotten up in the night to pee (did I mention I'm having a second baby in exactly 2 weeks time!!) At 2am. He was awake downstairs playing. Who knows how long. If you try to put him back he freaks out saying he's awake now. I change his diaper so he's comfy. And make him lie down. But he just gets back up. I get no sleep because I wake up constantly wondering if he's loose in the house. Our house is safe and doors to outside are locked and sharp things are away. But he gets into everything in the middle of the night (dry food. Bathroom stuff etc) he's so tired and cranky at as early as 9am. Besides locking him in his room (he is obsessed with not having his door closed. And even if it was closed he can open it anyways). How can I stop this earlier and earlier getting up. It's 10 minutes earlier than the day before every single day. I can't handle getting up at 345 am with a newborn and a cranky toddler. Suggestions? Thoughts? Ideas?Tl:Dr: my 3 yo son used to sleep normally until 630 7am. Now averages 4 to 5am wake up times. Cranky and tired all day. Newborn coming in 2 weeks. Desperate and tired.
