So this year my daughter (8) wants to be Batgirl for Halloween and my son (6) decided that he would be the Joker. I thought it was pretty awesome they wanted to team up like that. Being the big Batman fans we are in this family we went all out with making the costumes and they look awesome. Their Halloween parade at school is on Monday and today we get an email from the school stating that no clown costumes will be allowed and they specifically referenced popular clown characters (Ronald McDonald, Krusty and even the Joker) and then said it was because of the scary clown sightings that have been happening the past month around the country. My son is taking it like a champ, but you can tell he is really bummed and his sister seems to be sad about it too since they planned to walk together. I'm pretty angry with the school for waiting until the weekend before Halloween to send this email out. Our weekend is busy so we won't have time to make a new costume and what little time we will have to get to a store most costumes (especially for kids) will be picked over. It actually seems like the scary clown sightings have died down and you don't really hear about it on Facebook and Twitter as much, not to mention these were adults doing this, not children. Am I alone in thinking the school is really overreacting to all of this and should I be pissed they waited until 3 days before Halloween to send us the email? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2e4DHaz
