I've accidently pricked him twice while trying to cut his nails and both times the bleeding just would not stop. I still feel terrible for both of those instances and I hated hearing his scream ):I've tried cutting his nails in his sleep but he does not like to be messed with. He'll wake up if I try to touch or adjust him. Were breastfeeding so he'll just grab my boobs whenever he's hungry. NBD except for the fact that his nails are always freaking cutting me.He won't scratch or hurt himself at all,but I have scratch marks all over me. Is there a better kind of nail clipper or anything you guys can recommend to me? I'm so tired of being a scratch board )):Edit: my son just turned 7 months, not six. Sorry. The sleep deprivation is real tonight via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aotgcR

How do you schedule childcare vs work if you're both work from home parents?
Are there any parents out there who both run an online business from home? How do you work out your routine and juggle a two year old?Daycare is not an option right now - we live in a small town and there aren't many day care centers out there that seem trustworthy. We want to take turns watching him while the other works but get at least 8 hours of work in from each of us. Care to share your schedule? We're struggling and falling behind at work. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2apyqbT
Help with 20mo Son
First time poster, I'm really hoping that someone in here can help me and my wife. we are parents of two beautiful children, Flynn 20mo and Isla 4 weeks. for the past two months, Flynn has been an absolute nightmare. If he doesn't get his way with absolutely anything, he let's out these blood curdling screams. If the wife and I argue, blood curdling screams. If we go to the shop, blood curdling screams. The crying and frustration and whinging and screaming is getting to the point that I completely lose my temper with him. I've even yelled at him in return in frustration. (not proud of that one). If we ask him what's wrong, he just screams louder. We've tried time out, smacking his hand lightly, ignoring him, distraction and nothing seems to work. Once he gets going it's almost impossible to get him to stop unless he decides to. It's awful. My marriage is suffering and I feel like a terrible dad. any advice on how I can either help him to know that screaming is bad, or how I can effectively manage this behaviour. (on a side note, he doesn't know what being quiet means, or how to use a quiet voice and I can't seem to teach him that either).Any advice is greatly appreciated, we are at wits end. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aot65i

Help me Parenting Subreddit! You're my only hope!
Hi all, need to consult the collective wisdom of this subreddit. My 12 week old baby forgot how to feed from the bottle today. She has been ok alternating between breast feeding and bottle feeding from birth till now. However, out of a blue, she seems to have forgotten how to suck from the bottle. She is using her tongue to try and lick the nipple. Anyone faced this before and more importantly, how did you guys solve the issue? My wife will be going back to work soon and I'm a SAHD. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aldIIR
Toddler clings to daddy, disrespectful of good mommy, out of ideas.
Our toddler heavily favors me as the father and it's starting to affect our marriage. Some background: My wife and I both work good day jobs. She drops him off to 'school' (daycare) around 8:00 and I pick him up around 5:00. She gets home around 7:00. Our son is on the back half of two years old, and is generally well behaved. But he rejects his mother on a regular basis and it's really putting a strain on our family. She's a good mother and wife. I have no reason to believe there's any justifiable reason for the rejection. If he needs to get into his PJs for the night, when she tries, gently, it's chaos. If I do it, there's no problem. It's the same for anything really. Mealtime, bedtime, playground time, whatever. It's always about daddy. She's hurt by his behavior but is strong about it and keeps a positive attitude with him. It's taking it's toll though. I fear it won't last forever as this has been going on for 9 months or so.We're about out of ideas, as offering simple pleasures such as walks to the waterfront across the street or other stimulating events aren't helping to restore the bond.I'd appreciate any help from others who have seen their kids shun a parent and how they have dealt with it. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aKkFUy

The butt of jokes
So this little gem happened about three days ago while visiting my mother and her farm with my five year old dd who I would like to add has toileting and bowel issues. At least once a week me and my dd go over to visit my mother and dd is allowed to help feed all the animals, she has been doing this since she could walk.We start with the horses and cows because they are closer to the house then we walk all the way down to the bottom paddock where the duck pen is. After walking all the way down and feeding the ducks we were just about to head back up and my dd says the words I always dread to hear "I NEED TO POO!!!!"Remember this little girl has toileting issues and bowel issues. Running back up to the house was not an option because there was no holding it. So unfortunately down behind the duck pen we were forced to take drastic measures. Yep she squatted... or at least she tried to the poor girl fell backwards and started crying. So there I am trying to help her up and she is telling me she has hurt her bottom. I get her up and she turns around to show me and I freaked out...THERE WAS A STICK POKING OUT OF HER BUTT.I completely froze trying to comprehend what I was seeing. I mean you hear stories about people turning up to ER's and I have always thought things like that couldn't happen by accident but here it was right in front of me.A minute must of passed while I was try do work out what to do. My mum yells out if she's(dd) OK an why was she crying I yelled back there's a stick up her butt. My mums lovely words of wisdom were "well pull the friggin' thing out".Thankfully upon assessing the situation it turned out it was just stuck between dd's cheeks and she only ended up with a scratch but my mum kept making butt jokes for the rest of the day.Tl;dr dd needed to poop and couldn't make it to the house so she tried to do it behind the duck pen and fell over and got a stick up her butt. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aVssOw
