Last night my preschooler was snuggling with me in bed after a successful bedtime routine. They then requested that I not look at them. I knew they were putting their hand in their pants, but chose to ignore, until they proudly exclaimed “want to smell my fingers?” Is this weird to be self-aware enough to know it isn’t acceptable (hence asking me to look away), but still incriminating themselves by sharing the evidence?
