My 8yr old son just kissed a friend on her head

The wife had taken our 8yr old son to one of his friend's birthday party. There were a lot of kids at the party from my son's class, including a girl who doesn't normally talk much with my son. Apparently, she was being friendly and played with my son for much of the party and at the end of the party, he turned around and gave her a kiss - on her head.My wife's upset as she thinks he's way too young to be "kissing girls". I don't think this was sexual or intended to be sexual in any way. My son usually does not even kiss us (on the cheek) or like getting kissed - he goes "ewwww" whenever other people are kissing, so this definitely was unusual. When we asked him why he kissed the girl, he said that she was being very "lovely" and he wanted to show her that he liked her.I do not think we should probe him more, simply to avoid making it a big deal. He's shy and sensitive by nature and I would hate for him to think that he really messed up here. On the other hand, I do see what my wife is saying that we definitely wouldn't want him to make this into a pattern or think its ok to go about kissing people. I would have "preferred" he maybe hug her and tell her that he had a good time playing with her, or something like that, but again, I would not like to super-impose my beliefs or ways on him.Thoughts/suggestions on what you would do if you were the parent? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2KPzuHI
