I'm liking this whole "be a dad to a human being capable of thought" thing.

My daughter's made it all the way up to Month 20 without dying, which is a sign that I am not the world's worst parent. The part that I'm enjoying is that she's now capable of expressing what she wants and knowing how to get it. Not in words, necessarily, but she absolutely understands cause and effect. For example, today she got up around 6:30. (She's clearly taking after her mom in that regards.) I wanted more time to work on stuff, so I brought the little baby chair over next to my chair and handed her a tablet. She climbed up into the chair and sat there happily playing educational tablet games.Well, she knows how to get back to the home screen in order to play other games, but every once in a while she does something wrong and has to type in the security code again, which she has not yet figured out (it's only a matter of time, I suppose). This time, she got up, walked over to me, said "Hi!", and handed me the tablet. She stood there patiently while I typed in the code and handed it back to her, then she sat back down in her chair and went to another game.(She actually just did it again while I was writing this post.)I'm sure in a few months I'll be wishing she wasn't quite so opinionated all the time. But right now, it's pretty much great having a kid who can just kinda hang out while we do stuff. It's a nice change from the Potato Phase. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/32PB82w
