I have tweens that do well in school overall, but could certainly do better. With all the talk about young adults and mental health problems, I've been wary to overschedule my kids in competitive activities and haven't pushed them hard in school. They seem happy with the status quo. However, I sometimes second-guess myself when I look at their peers and 'kids today' in general. Many are involved one or more competitive activities (sports, clubs, student government, all of the above) and are high academic performers. My kids are in a competitive school -- we just got report cards and they are getting Bs and B+ , but in many courses are still below the class average. My kids aren't particularly unmotivated, but they are not keenly driven either. If I don't push, are they going to be eventually squeezed out by all these superstar kids? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2PZFKk6
