tl;dr: our school only allows observation of the class Tues-Thursday in the morning before ~10ish. This doesn't seem normal.----We are in a weird situation with our day care. Our 2-year-old was having a hard time adjusting, so we wanted to set up an observation time where we could watch him and see what he was doing in class. When we asked to schedule an appointment, what we thought was weird was the director said there were no available appointments that day. She basically gave us resistance to scheduling an appointment which we thought was weird. We ended up getting an appointment and noticed some things we didn't like, so we wanted to go again. The next day, we came back to observe, and things seemed to be better. However, when we picked up our kid, the teacher mentioned that she knew that we were observing. So we wanted to schedule a 3rd day just to get some more data, and we were scheduled for a Friday. The day before that, we had our appointment cancelled due to a tour (which I assume meant that a prospective parent was taking a tour). Then we were given another date to reschedule, and then that date was rescinded. The only day they offered was a day that we were unavailable (and they offered it after we gave them 3 possible days we could make it, so they knew when we were available).Anyways, it feels like they are trying to prevent us from coming to observe our own kid, which makes me even more concerned, like they are hiding something. When we are observing, we are not in the way or disrupting the class (the observation area is a small locked closet with a 1-way mirror to the classroom), so I'm not sure why it matters whether there is a tour going on.According to county laws, we should be able to enter and observe the facilities any time our child is in care. We've reported them to the local county authorities for breaking this law and they will be paying the school a visit. Are we overreacting? Is this normal? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2B3R9Hl
